The curved surfaces, scalloped top with cut-off angles and the branches of the marquetry link this table to furniture from the Louis XV period. An identical table with the Léonard Boudin trademark dates this elegant piece of furniture from the beginning of this master’s career. On the wider side of the belt is a pullable writing pad, while on the narrower right-hand side a drawer bears traces of inkwell compartments. Comparison with other pieces of furniture confirms that the leather top covering has replaced the original veneer, which was undoubtedly damaged beyond repair.
